    Issue in renaming jpeg file

I am having a Compaq Presario CQ3100 Desktop whenever I try to rename some of the images taken by me with the help of my Sony Handycam DCR-SR100. which i had copied in my computer earlier. It always results in an error message "Error Renaming File or Folder * Cannot rename (example) MISC. WEDDING PIC (MWP) #1: * Access is denied Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected" . I tried to copy these images to some other folder but still the result is same. Any solution would be appreciated ?

This problem of renaming the jpeg file is a simple problem which appears either your system is corrupted or your memory card is corrupted . Try scanning the computer system with a suitable antivirus if possible scan the memory card too. If this doesnot solve your issue . Search over the internet for a software which can repair these files . After the repair is over you can rename your file. I hope that this have solved your problem.

I think the problem could be because of permissions or some illegal characters in the File Name. Anyway, try to get some information about locating and Correcting Disk Space Problems on NTFS Volumes in Windows XP

After that, try following the steps below

    1.Click Start,
2.Now, go to Run and type cmd and press Enter
    3.Type the following commands

cd "%userprofile%\My documents\My pictures" press the Enter key

ren "long_filename.jpg" shortnam.jpg and again press the Enter key

Hi friends thanks for all your worthful response. As i was not able to rename the jpeg files. And of course i tried all the above suggestion, I tried to remove the dot(.) and the brackets . But nothing helped Unless my friend got it .He told to delete the files permanently using Shift + Delete . Then I copied the photos again from my camera's memory chip .
