    renaming Outlook.pst file

During a recent format I backed up my outlook using the export function but renamed the folder, thus removing the pst extension. Now when I go to import, it don't recognize it. Is this still salvageable? Can I just rename with the .pst? Please let me know the easiest method. Thanks.

    Re: renaming Outlook.pst file

Yes, you can rename the Outlook.pst file but you have to be careful about how you do it or you will corrupt the file and end up with a ghost folder in your Outlook folder list. If the folder for the .pst file is currently visible in the Outlook Folder List view of the Outlook Navigation Pane then you need to close the folder.
