I guess any of the mac os x would not be able to read the usb 3.0 card but it might be possible with the windows operating system as there might be the driver which might provide the support for the usb 3.0. It just seems to be impossible with the mac os x unless apple provides something to work with it.

Yet i do not have any idea about an USB 3.0 but i guess it would be very much faster and useful. Definitely it would not be supported by the macbooks which are there currently but it is obvious that an apple is not going to be backing at the race of computers supporting for the faster usb. But i think still we have to wait for the at least one more year.

I think that an USB 3.0 would be 10 times faster then the USB 2.0 and it would be giving the maximum through put of 4.8 Gbit/s which would make it even more faster then FireWire 800 which is supported by an unibody MacBook Pro.
I guess you just need to update your firmware after sometime which would be helping your mac pro to support for the new USB 3.0.

Symwave have tested the new usb 3.0 and they say that the this would be the most pervasive high-speed connectivity technology over the coming years.
And most of the people would be preferring for this kind of external drives which would be having enough space for storage and the space would not be affecting the speed anymore.
