Does blackra1n work with firmware 3.1.3?

Hello people, I have an Apple iPhone 3G on which I got the firmware updated to version 3.1.3 recently. Now I want to jailbreak the iPhone to access all the additional functionalities. I have heard for jailbreaking the phone an application known as blackra1n is available and hence I want know if blackra1n work with firmware 3.1.3? Any suggestions about the issue are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Yes you can use Blackrain for jailbreaking the iPhone without any problems. Even if the firmware is updated to version 3.1.3 you can use blackra1n on the iPhone. The earlier versions of the blackra1n had some issues with the version 3.1.3 which was resolved in the later versions. Hence I dont think there would be any problem while jailbreaking the iPhone with blackra1n.

As suggested I tried Jailbreaking the iphone using blackra1n but it did not work. Just after the installation starts, the screen of the iPhone goes black and does not display anything. Now I am stuck with a Locked phone and hence want to know how do I get the iPhone unlocked ? If there exists any alternate solution then please suggest it so I am able to unlock my phone.

I am afraid that there is no application available for the jailbreaking the phone which is updated with firmware version 3.1.3 on it. Currently the applications which are available only work with firmware version 3.1.2 of the iPhone. So if you can get the firmware downgraded to this version then you will be able to use Blackrain for jailbreaking the iPhone.

The iPhone which you are using is running on firmware update 3.1.3, hence you can Jailbreak the phone using a redsnOw 0.9.3, for jailbreaking the phone using redsnOw 0.9.3 you will have to point it to the previous version of the firmware 3.1.2 instead of the current version of the firmware. You can find the steps for jailbreaking the iPhone using redsnOw online. Follow the steps and let the procedure complete to jailbreak the phone.

Yes using redsnow 0.9.3 really worked in jailbreaking the iPhone 3G but now the iphone is not getting detected in the iTunes. Whenever the phone is connected, it does not show up in iTunes. I think the iTunes has got corrupt and due to which it is not detecting but still I want to if Jailbreaking can cause such problem or not? How to solve this problem?

You will have to reset the iPhone and then connect the phone to the computer. Sometimes after the firmware upgrade the phone has to be restarted. To restart the phone, press and hold the Sleep and hold button till the Apple Logo appears. Once the apple logo appears, release the keys and let the iPhone restart. After restarting connect the phone to the computer and see if it gets detected.
