    Re: kernel patching of LKCD

LKCD uses make files and the typical gcc compiler. To compile all LKCD, go to the source encyclopedia LKCD and ./configure to build configuration or arrangement files. The next step is to run make to compile the tools and finally make install to install the tools and manual pages. You can check that on the system.

    Re: kernel patching of LKCD

To get rid of the kernel patching of LKCD, you can install pre-built utilities from rpm package using the command: kcdutils xxx rpm. From this you can always apply the patch to the kernel and install the startup scripts. But you will not have to perform step compilation tools. This need some advance configuration knowledge. Better get a guide for that you will get more detail information about it in it.

    Re: kernel patching of LKCD

If you are making a kernel patching of LKCD, you can have a other step through which you can apply the patch and recompile the kernel. You must apply to the source code of the kernel patch lkcd- xxx .diff you can also downloaded from lkcd.sourceforge.net. Copy the patch into the kernel source directory and run: patch-p0 noyauxxx .diff.

    Re: kernel patching of LKCD

Before running the patch make sure the patch you use is good for your kernel version. You will then need to configure the kernel to activate the kernel crash dumps. This option is disabled by default. If you use make menu config or make xconfig you will find this option under Kernel hacking. Remember to activate the kernel functions that your system needs.
