Activate user / root in Snow Leopard

    Hi,
I need some information on activating User Root in Snow Leopard. This was the same which was enabled in the older version of Mac operating system. Where in terminal we can access the user account by giving this syntax in the console. But the same I found is not available in Snow Leopard. So what is the procedure of enabling the same. Thanks in advance.

Do not confuse these two very different concepts. Single User (or mode Single User) is a way we have seen elsewhere on this site when we discussed the means of repairing small sores Mac OS X using the fsck-fy. To restart in single-user mode first restart the computer. Then immediately after the startup sound, simultaneously press the Apple key and S. A series of lines of text scroll across the screen. Release the keys. You are then in Simple user.

You will have only limited opportunities to work in Single User, brought to hand, of course, when you press fsck-fy. Instead linger on the way root. Bettero go on and look for some information on Permissions. When we speak of root, it refers to "superuser" who acts black on your computer. The root has all permissions and can change whatever he wants within the Mac OS X.

Apple did not immediately appoint you to the rank of root (the one that installs OS X on his computer is an Administrator) is precisely to avoid that you do too many stupid things and you accidentally damaging this beautiful OS X. It is possible that you are self-proclaimed root to perform certain sensitive operations, but do not enter in "root" of that very point and taking all precautions! If you're not too sure about you, go your way .

Here is how to activate the root user in OS X Snow Leopard. In fact the procedure has not changed from LEOPARD except that the utility Directory Utility is no longer in the Utilities folder, but is now well hidden in the depths of the system. It is located in System / Library / CoreServices. Then in this part you can activate the root use.

To enable root in snow run Directory Utility. Click on the padlock at the bottom left of the window opening on the screen. Go to Edit menu, select Enable root user. You must also set a password root. Recall, that there are two passwords, a password for all user (including administrators). This is the one you enter at the opening session, where when an application requests the administrator to enter the code phrase.
