    Disk access:Sense operation failed

    Hello everybody,

I have a Sony Vaio and it is now pulling my hair out. When I went for a restore the operating system it gave me an error message that says "Disk access Sense operation failed" and the restore shuts down.By searching there same i can't find out any related information. The reasons could be a failed hard drive or bad cables. However, there are also reports of bad restore disks from Sony.I just thought I would check in here to see if anyone has had experience with this problem and/or advice.

    ton thanks...

I guess it may be the error possibly be a BIOS code resulting from a Boot Error in reading the CDROM's "boot sector" mainly since there seems to be a secondary issue with booting to a CD.So either physical damage to the CD's actual boot code or a hardware problem with the CD or its controllers.I hope that sometimes, because it's an issue with a lot of Sony Vaio computers, someone will have something to say about it

A Sense error can result a failed disk access (read/write) operation. Some common reasons for such errors are a faulty hard drive, defected or loose cabling, the use of a 40-wire IDE cable on newer ULTRA ATA drives which require the use of an 80-wire cable, and certainly in proper drive settings in the BIOS.Unfortunately, this error mainly comes for Sony Vaios. On the same time Sony hasn't admitted to any error on their part, but they may either have had wrong batches of drives in certain production runs of the Vaio.

All right,If you are trying to use your system restore disk(s) like I was and you keep getting the "Disk accessense operation failed" message, try using your other cd drive if you have one. This fixed the head ache for me. I hope this helps you a bit
