Canon LBP5050n not reconnecting after reboots

This printer has it's own ethernet port and installs under Vista32 through a D-Link ADSL modem/router,quickly as per instructions. However, sooner or later, upon rebooting the PC, the printer is not found even though it's status says "Ready". As best I can determine this is not an isolated occurance with Vista. The only sure way to regain connectivity is to remove the driver and reinstall/reboot.. not a real solution.
It does exactly the same thing on my networked Vista notebook.
    Can anyone assist?
    Thanks

So, have you tried to reinstall the driver for your printer and checked whether its working or not?

    As I said ...
"The only sure way to regain connectivity is to remove the driver and reinstall/reboot.. not a real solution."
What I'm doing is checking that it works after doing the above.. and it always prints.. The problem is that after x boots it fails to connect upon reboot.

Don't know what else to say about the printer other than its a new model (Canon site says LBP5050N **NEW** ) and it seems it came out about 6 months ago. http://www.canon.com.au/products/pri...50n_specs.aspx
It was just showing as "OFFLINE" although if I click offline it says OFFLINE Offline.
I just changed the Advanced Port Setting from Raw to LPR and set the queue as lbp5050 and LPR Bye Counting Enabled and the printer became available and I was able to print a test sheet.
Maybe that's the fix, maybe not.. Just have to see how it goes.
The printer driver is the latest V1.1
I'll come back with a report in 2 days to give it time to prove itself.
    Thanks for the reply.
