how to know that my graphic card was working or not?

when i run the game its getting
"Application has crashed: C++ exception
failed setting new video mode"

Which operating systems do you running?
What about the hardware component of your computer? Which game is causing the error message? Provide the screenshot as well as log file of the error message do you getting. do you playing the game with the gaming controller?
