Ethernet card DGE-528T not recognized by Kernel 2.6

I have my system with me and I have the Linux with the Kernel 2.6 on it. There are no issues related to the things till here. Now it is the time for the real issue. I have the D-Link DGE-528T Ethernet card which I just bought today. I do not know why but the system just fails to recognize it. It just cannot be recognized by the Debian Sarge. Well I know that in order to make this thing work one need to have the graphic drivers but the things is that I have not seen the drivers for the 2.6 Kernel. Can anyone here can help me with the scenario that I am struck with at the moment. Any help in this matter will be really appreciated. Hope that I will be able to get the solutions soon.

Well in that case I would simply suggest you to have the drivers for the same. Well it seems funny that you know that you require the drivers and yet you have not found the same for you. Well in that the drivers will be available on the official site of the D-Link and I am sure that the drivers for sure will do the magic there. Well get the drivers from there and you will have the DGE-528T Ethernet card detected by the Debian Sarge. You should have checked the support for the drivers before getting it for you. Well do that from the next time. I am sure that you will have the drivers from the official site.

I am not getting one think, why do you want to go the official site. I think that the CD that accompanied with the D-Link DGE-528T Ethernet card will be sound enough to give you all the drivers. It will be better if you can have a dual check for the same on the system. Well at one stage I was also having the similar issue with the drivers; well in that case I was looking for the drivers for the Motherboard. The thing was that my CD ROM Drive was not able to read the files and was showing the drivers for the Ethernet but I was not able to see the drivers for the Sound. After trying again and again I was able to see the drivers, the CD drive finally read the drivers for me and that helped me with the installation of the drivers. Well I would suggest you to try the same here. Hope that you will be able to find the drivers in the CD itself.

I think that there is some problem with the version of the Kernel that you are using. Just wasn’t to know if you updated the version before giving this a try. I think that there is some issue with the version. It would be really preferable if you can have it uninstalled and then reinstall the same and then give this a final try. I am of the opinion that the reinstallation will really help you with the situation. Also it will be nice if you can see if the Card is properly inserted in the slot. It can also be that the slot may be not working and hence you are getting the trouble. Please check the card on some other system and see if that works there. Well check for all the above things and then let me know if that helped you in solving the issue.

What is the command that you are using to see here. Well I think that you should use the lspci so that you can see if at all your Ethernet Card is detected or not by the system. Just type the following and see what it returns in reply, lspci –n. In addition to that the latest drivers will also help you with the installation and the detection of the Ethernet Card. If at all you want, you can have the module with the modprobe. I am sure that after following the above suggestions you will be able to see that the system detects the Ethernet Card automatically.
