Can't play MPEG's

I have some videos which were recorded from Tivo box and they are in mpegs format. I have windows media player 11 installed on windows xp machine as well as vista, i don't have any issue in playing those video on xp machine using media player but on vista Video is appearing scrambled. I don't know whats wrong, is there anything i can do about it???

It seems as if some codec is missing from your vista system, you can check out WMPlugins site for the missing codecs and install them accordingly. If that doesn't work than you can try uninstalling any third-party codecs that you might have installed. If at all you still don't get proper video than you can try uninstalling and reinstalling windows media player on your xp system. I think there might be some codecs interfering with the Microsoft MPEG/MPEG2 decoders, simply uninstalling them should fix the issue.
