    DirectPlay 0x80004005/Dpvsetup.exe w/Teamspeak

I want to get a microphone input to work with Teamspeak software. If I go into control panel and then sounds and audio devices properties, and then test hardware, then I am getting some error that states "An error occurred during DirectPlay Voice Setup. The error code is 0x80004005". After that I get another error that says "Windows cannot execute DpvSetup.exe, use Add/Remove Programs control panel to install." I was able to find the dpvsetup.exe in C:\Windows\system32 but when trying to run it had no detectable effect. The sound card that I have is Realtek AC'97 Audio. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you try to update the audio drivers to the latest? You might be able to get the same from this link - http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false. You should be able to point out which motherboard is in your machine, so that you can find out which audio chipset is on the board and then you can download the proper drivers for it.

    dpvsetup.exe problems

Well, I don't know about the problems people are experiencing in trying to set up a microphone on their system, but I can tell you that unless you are having problems playing sound, ignore that error message when you perform "test hardware" under the voice tab of your audio devices. My first mistake was in performing Dell's diagnostic scan 11 days shy of my warranty expiring. It begot a whole host of tech "suggestions" over the course of 3 days by phone and IM and resulted in all kinds of additional problems, not to mention bleeding ears from trying to understand foreign accents via phone over the course of 2 hours! Fortunately, these problems were resolved before I tried reinstalling my operating system (which probably wouldn't have corrected anything anyway), and while I still have error messages, everything works as before I began on my Hell adventure. My best advice, is check your audio for downloads (see link below) that you may need. Good luck if you need Dell's assistance.
