sad No speakers or headphones are plugged in

There is a red X over the speaker icon at the bottom right of the screen in the system tray. When i hover mouse over the speaker icon, i see the following message:

No speakers or headphones are plugged in.

When i click on that red x speaker icon, The windows 7 audio troubleshooter checks the problem and applying the fix and then audio is working but after restart of the system, the same problem is repeating...

Then again troubleshooting and the problem is fixed but after restart again same problem, it's just freaking me out...plszzz help me...

I uninstall the realtek audio driver and again installed it, but the problem is not solved....

    MY SYSTEM DETAILS:

OS: windows 7 ultimate 64 bit
    Dell xps 15 laptop
    SOUND CARD

Realtek High Definition Audio and Intel(R) Display Audio

Re: No speakers or headphones are plugged in

It looks that your Windows is unable to find your sound device. For that go in Control Panel > Sound. In the window under playback can you see the Sound device installed. If not then you will need to re-install it. Click on My Computer > Properties looks for Device Manager. Look for sound devices and under that check that you can see Realtek High Definition Audio or something similar. Is there any exclamation mark on the same. You can right click and click on update drivers. You can download drivers manual from dell site. Click on Support and provide your model number for the right audio driver. There is a tool called as PassMark SoundCheck which can test your audio hardware.
