No full screen mode for DOS programs in windows 7

I'm supposed to run an old DOS program on my operating system Windows 7. But when I attempt to open my DOS prompt I get the message saying that command prompt cmd.exe is not compatible with full-screen mode. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application. I tried changing the compatibility mode of implementation, beginning with a PIF of course, tried to run in windowed mode. But it just will not work. What should I do? I do not want to run XP in virtual mode. Thanks for the answers.

From my point of you should download the fresh copy of the DOS form the internet. It may be possible there any other program running in the background that block it to go for full screen mode. Or there could be issue because of the virus in your system. I would suggest you to scan your computer system for antivirus and then see it is working or not. Close the unnecessary program when you go to run DOS. As you told it is compatible problem so you should have new copy. Try this.

I have also faced similar kind of the problem. But this problem occur for the specific time I tell you here when does I get this kind of the problem. I am using windows 7 operating system. And I want to use GWBASIC program that were used on windows XP or purely DOS operating system. So to make it run on windows 7 I have downloaded DOSbox from the net when I use to call GWbasic in this program I am not able to view it in full screen after click button ctl+enter button which is used to get full screen dos or command prompt.

I have read your problem Thank you for sharing such interesting topic on this forum. I have never used this kind of the software. But as my knowledge I would like to suggest something on this. You are getting this error because it is not actual windows 7 operating system program. You importing a old dos to run your program that is blocked by your operating system. Nothing else there is no issue so. Enjoy your programming.
