Lightroom 2.6 removes folder randomly

I have a desktop and it is been installed with Windows 7. Also I have installed application that is Lightroom 2.6. The problem is that the application removes the folder at random. I had many edits to the pictures and the folder just do not exist anymore. Also while trying to re-import the images I am not able to. please do help me out so that I can make the desired change that is essential. It will be helpful.
