    Macbook inactive tab

    Hello,
I just noticed that clicking on the tabs MAIL ADDRESS BOOK and they do not respond. A question mark appears on them. I have an idea to reinstall the software applications Install DVD. However, I am afraid to produce errors on the PC. If you already have had such a problem, I would be grateful for or explain it comes from and how I can fix this. Thank you in advance.

You do NOT need to reinstall any of the external application of something like that.
Mail and the book are in the folder of the Applications you have installed
Hard Disk / Applications / Mail
Hard Disk / Applications / Address Book

I guess this will help you.

For what you're talking about the convention is rather Dock icons, what you have is very common place, it is totally useless to reinstall anything
(Mac reinstalls it almost never is not a PC ) This means that the dock does not find the file.
    - select the file you want and drag in the dock
    or
    - open the file, it starts (and will be in the dock, and then you click the context menu icon in the Dock and choose "keep in dock")

You reinstall everything in one click, if your OS is Snow Leopard (Series 10.6) is simple because the default shall reinstall all (your data included), if your OS is anterior (10.5, 10.4 etc.) must be the same but by choosing the right option: the option to install occasions Archives. Another strategy (careful handling) and reinstall the mail backlog, but since you got at least two things Displaced, even a looser.

    Hello,
Thank you for your advice I managed to reinstall the software Address Book and Mail. But when I start the Mail application opens a window "Could not open this version of the Mail application with this version of Mac OS X". How do I update the software to open it with OS X Leopard?

It is very classic, I did say that reinstalling "an app" requires finesse, result depends on the version of OS (not shown)

But I advise not to reinstall punctually an operation is not so easy (There are cleanups to avant) If you do NOT want to be bored I suggest you reinstalling all the OS (recovery mode Ave Archives) AC puts everything If you want to annoy you you'll see the various topics of timely reinstall an application with 10.5.8
