    Unofficial Windows over an Official.WMP...protests.

For 3 yrs I've had a Toshiba Satellite 2 MbRAM & 160 Gb secondary HD. With Win XP Home. Office 2007.
Several PC experts have helped me in the meantime. Somebody installed his own XP copy. Windows has noticed, but I can work.
Microsoft Media player says its not original. I use it seldom, nevertheless. I cant use it I don't now how to solve this.I couldn't understand MS' complicated instructions about their sollution.
What do I do about Windows? (since I have an Official one installed and I keep the serials; but no Cd´s after a fire had) & Win Media Player . I'm afraid of reinstalling Windows (takes time to configure). I´m newbee at these non daily PC areas. I like overinstalling! I can ask help (just ideas) to the seller like a MS contact phone etc. What to do with Win Media Player?
Office 2007.No problems using it. Its not the official version¿2003? .Its a 2007.¿Your advise?
Thanks for your patience and clear response, for a dumb .

Which version of Windows Media player are you trying to upgrade on your system because as far as I know Media player 9 comes preinstalled on your xp system. Usually, when you connect your Windows online to upgrade your existing Windows Media Player version then it will take you to a page where the genuinety of your OS version is done and after getting through the genuine check, you will be prompted to install the Windows Media player. However there are other ways to install Media player but that is violated against the terms. You can check some related topics below:

Windows Media Player (11) is not installed properly. Reinstall...

    Viceman, thks for your response.
I have windows media player 11. Correctly installed(says Windows).
It connects with Windows site and checks its an unofficial version.True but sad since I have an Original Office & Win XP(came with Toshiba).
Great what you send. But I get mesed up with so many aspects to investigate or do. ¿So, what can I do? (ps. talk to an ignorant)

When you say somebody installed Windows XP on your Toshiba laptop, do you mean that somebody installed his version of the OS in your laptop? If so, then how did you check whether it was genuine or not. Also, dont you have any recovery cd that might have come along with your laptop, and with it you can reinstall your OS. You can also try to uninstall and reinstall Windows Media Player 11 and check whether it can pass the genuine advantage things, download it from here.

    Thanks Viceman and Einstein.
Einstein: I lost in a fire all that came with the Toshiba. But Win or Office didnt come in a CD. Windows Media Player doesnt let me continue saying: "Non genuine SW".
You said: <When you say somebody installed Windows XP on your Toshiba laptop, do you mean that somebody installed his version of the OS in your laptop? If so, then how did you check whether it was genuine or not>. YES.He installed an Office and a WIn XP, but non official.Nevertheless Win seems not to complain. So, besides uninstalling & installing WinMedia, what can I do? (because I bet Office will claim the same, and dont let me finish).

The only best way to deal with this is to download Windows Media player from the official site of Microsoft. There might be Windows update which is installed in your system and which has cause this matter. You have to download the same from the link below. Run the setup and then it will scan out your system for official copy. The last option you have is to change your music player or re-install Windows.
    Download Windows Media Player
