How to handle HD space used by Windows 7 to backup?

Hey, I am here for gaining the knowledge of the windows 7 operating system back process. As per i know that windows 7 facilitate the user with the backing up the computer which is much better than all the other version. But their is one problem that it is taking the too much space of the disk for the back up. Is there any method that will help me to delete the older back up which is unnecessary occupying the space. Thanks in advance. Waiting for reply.

For that first you have to click on the start and then to search box. Type Back up and restore in it and then press enter. After that click on the mange space under the back up section. Now hit the View back up which is under the data file section. It will display the back up taken on the different interval. From here you can delete the older version of the back up to free up the some of the space from the hard disk. When you click on the same you will get a message box for the confirmation of the deletion. Click on the OK and it will delete the same for your system. Thank you

Hi, As per your discussion is concern above it seems that you want to delete the older back from your computer but what if in future you need that back the how come you will get it. So first take the back up somewhere in the external hard disk and then use the above given method to delete the back up. This will ensure you that even if you have deleted the older one you still have the back of the same. Thanks

I think this will help you with your issue just do the same to manage your hard disk space and say thanks if you liked the idea.
    • Open Backup and Restore by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Backup and Restore.
    • Click Manage space. Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    • To change the amount of space that is used by file backups, under Data file backup, click View backups.
    • You can then select and delete older file backups.
    • To change the amount of space that is used by system image backups, under System image, click Change settings.
    • You can then choose to have Windows save older system image backups or just the most recent system image backup.

Another method is that just open the location of the file where you have stored the back up. If you have stored it on the E drive then open it up and then look for the back up. It will be in the "backup location\computer name\Backup Set year-month-day time" format. Just right click on that and hit the delete option from there. And it done. Thanks
