    Cannot install Nvidia Control Panel

    Hi,
I am not able to install Nvidia's Control Panel. I had just recently downloaded the new version of driver. After installation when I launch the control panel to edit my graphic setting the application crashes. This is happening now each and every time. I tried to remove it but that also not working. I think it is due to system conflict with other driver. Does it is necessary to uninstall the old driver in order to add new one. But that I had not taken into consideration. How can I fix this problem out. Please suggest some solutions for the same. Thanks in advance.

Yes it a system conflict with the old drivers. This is a very common issue faced by the Nvidia users. In order to install the new drivers you will have to first completely remove the old one. That you can do by getting into control panel. But before that boot your system in safe mode. Then right click on my computer > properties > hardware > device manager. Right click on the graphic card and select uninstall. Restart your system, copy paste the new driver and run the setup back again.

I think the file which you had downloaded is corrupt. Did you have noticed any error at the time of installation. If not then this is due to some missing file in your system. First download a fresh copy back again. Remove the old files. And the second most important thing you have to take card that you system must have the latest version of Microsoft .Net. You can see the program in Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Program. In the list if you does not found the application then download it and install it. It is a freeware application. Nvidia's control panel will not work without it.

The problem can be solved by editing the registry entries of the GPU drivers. But before that make a back up of your registry files so that you can restore it back in case of any system flaw. I had tried this solution for Nvidia 7800GTX which works fine. It is actually a system conflict from Nvidia's side. First click on Start > Run > Type regedit. In the editor click on File > Export. Save the file to proper location which will be used for restoration. Now navigate to - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIACorporation\Glob al\NvCplApi\Policies. In this right click on ContextUIPolicy and set the Dword value as per listed. Number 1 for getting the old control panel, nuber 2 for the new one and number 3 for using both. Anyone from them is recommended. Don't forget to restart after this.
