    NVidia Control Panel does not Work

    I recently got a Planar 24" LCD and I got a 7300GT to help run it. I downloaded the latest driver from nVidia's site, which is actually a bit newer than the one i have video card driver disc that came with the card.

    I installed the newer driver, and found that the "Control Panel" is not running and is displaying an error message about a corrupted .dll file. I again installed the older driver , and I got the same display message. I did a driver cleaner before installing anything, and again tried to install the original version which was in the CD, so I don't know what happened.

    Please provide me some suggestions regarding this problem

    this solution did work for me and i believe it will work for you too....

    I reinstalled Windows, installed the 162.18 drivers, and now the NV Control Panel works perfectly.

    there are some private files of windows when driver get's install and thus they get modified when you install driver's. they generally do support but if driver files are corrupt then they corrupt the windows driver file too and they create such problems

    i generally prefer this as my solution:

    Try cleaning the registry of nVidia related entries. Uninstall the drivers and then delete the following keys:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER->Software->NVIDIA Corporation,

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER->Software->NVIDIA nvCpl Container and

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->Software->NVIDIA Corporation.

    You might also try a registry cleaning software. There is also a program for removing various driver file leftovers search it on google and then work it on your machine.

    i think this may help you:

    manage to get to control panel by finding the NVIDIA folder on hard drive and edit the nv4_disp.inf with notepad to be included in the lines under the [nv_ControlPanelSettings]

    HKLM,Software\"NVIDIA Corporation"\Global\NvSvc,"Nvcmd:4,Register",%REG_SZ%,"nvdisps.dll"

    HKLM,Software\"NVIDIA Corporation"\Global\NvSvc,"Nvcmd:5,Register",%REG_SZ%,"nvgames.dll"

    HKLM,Software\"NVIDIA Corporation"\Global\NvSvc,"Nvcmd:6,Register",%REG_SZ%,"nvmccss.dll"

    HKLM,Software\"NVIDIA Corporation"\Global\NvSvc,"Nvcmd:7,Register",%REG_SZ%,"nvmobls.dll"

    HKLM,Software\"NVIDIA Corporation"\Global\NvSvc,"Nvcmd:8,Register",%REG_SZ%,"nvvitvs.dll"

    HKLM,Software\"NVIDIA Corporation"\Global\NvSvc,"Nvcmd:9,Register",%REG_SZ%,"nvwss.dll"

    Then uninstalling and reinstalling using the already downloaded drivers with the edited nv4_disp.inf file.

    This seems to solve your problem.
