Cannot view recorded TV under Video Library

    Hi,
I am using Windows Vista Media Center Edition in my HTPC system. I had recorded a TV show last night. I want to copy the show on the disc to gave to my friend. But when I looked in the Video library folder I fond nothing. There was nothing in it. I had seen it in my C drive > My Documents > videos. It was empty. Anyhow the media shows that the recording is completed. Does I am looking in the wrong directory. And when I try to copy a movie from a particular channel it says that cannot stream video. Thanks in advance.

Yes you are looking in the wrong folder. Windows Vista Media Center does not saves the files in My Documents. You can see the same data in C > Documents & .. > Shared Folder > Recorded TV. All the recorded files are saved here by the MCE. You can simply copy paste or delete it from here if you do not want it anyone. Second thing if you continuously doing a lot of recording then you have to take care that your system has enough disk space.

The data is saved in the form of DVR-MS. This extension is not a common type and Nero will not burn it. You will have to convert it first to a proper format like mpeg. Download and install VLC player for the same. Extract the file and convert it to your normal mpeg type. Then burn it back again. Otherwise it won't work. Some programs are copyright protected. So take card otherwise you can face a penalty if got caught.

There are some channels which is blocked for the MCE. This channels does not allows copying of the media content. As per the copyright act is not legal to make CD by copying a shows from the TV. It is bad and you can face any law enforcement if your are caught. Basically due to large use of media and widespread of digital content the distribution of such has become very easy. But still it only allowed for personal use only.
