    code 39, no audio devices

Computer Suicide – Fixing what is NOT broken !!
After uninstalling some no longer needed programs and using c/cleaner and Revo Uninstaller I lost all sound.

I go to the control panel, SOUND & AUDIO and it states, "No audio device." Sound and Audio tabs are “greyed” out. Under HARDWARE
    Location:
MPU-401 Compatible MIDI Device PCI bus
    Standard Game Port PCI bus
ATI T2000 Unified AV Stream Driver All-in-Wonder X600
Realtek AC’97 Audio PCI bus 0, device 4, function 0
    Audio Codecs Unknown
    Legacy Audio Drivers Unknown
    Media Comtrol Devices Unknown
    Legacy Video Capture Devices Unknown
    Video Codecs Unknown
All share this message: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

2 other items listed as “working properly” are my NEC DVD and zon bwp2jghqzs scsi cdrom device.
    What is this thing?

Under Device Manager these same 9 items have yellow "!" and when I turn on my HP2350, it has one under Imaging Devices and my scanner does not "communicate".

Using an earlier Restore Point does not make this go away!
    Why not?

I am using Windows XP Home version 2002, SP 3 with an AMD ATHLON and ASUS A8N-SLI DELUXE with Nvidia Nforce4.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Install the driver from the motherboard cd for your sound devices and it will work fine again and similarly install drivers for other devices from their manufacturers site.

Never to use a third party tool unless you know what you are doing. Well the yellow ' !' stands for missing and corrupt drivers. You will need the motherboard cd or whichever came with your sound card if its not onboard. Install all the drivers that are missing...
