Designed for Mobile Internet Devices (MID) Moblin is an operating system kernel based on a GNU / Linux was created in July 2007. At the conference, "O'Reilly Open Source Convention, held in Portland in the United States from 21 to 25 July 2008, Intel said that the second version of its Moblin project would be based on the Fedora distribution, and Ubuntu not as originally planned. Moblin 2.0 is now available for download in beta.
In December 2008, the world's leading manufacturer of semi-conductor announced a partnership with the government with several Taiwanese manufacturers for the development of a system optimized for netBook with an Atom processor. Since last month, the Linux Foundation is in charge of the Moblin project.
The second version of this system is strongly oriented towards Internet use and its interface, called M-Zone, consists of eight sections tabbed browsing. This time the developers have really focused on the dimension. On the home screen, alongside the latest emails, tasks, calendar events, favorite applications and files recently opened, we find the recent activities of its contacts. Two tabs are dedicated to update its status on various community sites and navigation of all its friends. In addition to a browser with thumbnails of frequently visited sites, Moblin 2.0 also embeds a media player with a search engine to read the music files and videos or view photos. ote that this drive can also read the content shared within a network.
