Getting dvxa_sig file on my desktop

I noticed recently on my Windows XP computer that a file named “dvxa_sig” kept appearing on my desktop. Is it some kind of virus or malicious program? I scanned my computer but my Norton Antivirus is not able to detect it as a virus. In other words, it passes leaving the file.

This is caused from a missing codec that should have been installed with Windows Media Player 10 but got lost or damaged. The missing codec is codec75 from Microsoft but security issues stop a lot of installations of this type of file.

This might even be caused from using Quicktime or Real as it has also been reported.

If you are using ATI graphics card then you can reinstall the ATI drivers and get the codec that way.

You might also try a third party codec kit and see if it will fix the problem..

What's in the file? Did you look at it in notepad? It seems to me that you need to upgrade the WMP drivers.

A few experiments shows that it gets created whenever you play a wmv file
(wmv2 video codec and wma2 audio codec) with the ATI File Player. No other
video player causes this, so it does appear to be some buggy ATI software.
