The mobile unified messaging application WhatsApp has just received an update on the Windows Phone 8 system.
After deploying a beta in April, the WhatsApp application, offering free calls to users, acquires new features and a little closer Editions designed for iOS and Android.
If Windows Phone 8 supports multi-task mode, WhatsApp was not fully benefited. Now it will be possible to close the application while being alerted to the arrival of a new message. The principle is similar to receiving SMS or MMS.
Directly from the application it is also possible to access the phone module to call a contact. Be careful though, the calls are made in a conventional manner through the network of the operator. It is therefore not a VoIP service such as Skype or Viber.
Besides the integration of new emoticons, the team announced that they have also fixed some bugs in notifications. Finally, the conversation history can also be archived and it will be synchronized from one device to the other attached to the same account.
In June, WhatsApp claimed to have 250 million users with the recording of a peak of atleast 27 billion messages within 24hrs.
