    Hacked termsrv.dll?
There is a hack for allowing full RDC in Home Premium

Re: Vista and Remote Desktop Connections

I didn't *do* anything. I just tried it and it worked. I hooked one of
my Windows XP machines direct to the internet to make sure it would work
out of the network. I sent an email invitation to the XP machine with
the Vista one, and it worked. I could access the Vista desktop with full
control from the XP machine. Then I tried it the other way around. Got
full control of the XP desktop with the Vista machine.

Beats me. I was just curious about it so I tried it. I didn't hack
anything. I have the downloaded upgrade version of Home Premium. But I
    doubt that makes any difference.

OK, you are talking about Remote Assistance, not Remote Desktop.
Different but similar features. Perhaps the biggest difference is that
Remote Assistance requires an invitation, and Remote Desktop doesn't.

Menno has Remote Assistance working, not Remote Desktop. As pointed out
in other posts, you can't Remote Desktop into Home version, you can only
    Remote Desktop out of them.

OK. Sorry about that. I've never had any experience with Remote Desktop
and I thought it was one and the same. I guess I'll have to research it
    a bit... :-)

Re: Vista and Remote Desktop Connections

Easy to add RDP to any VISTA version that does not have it with a easy
    hack. Read this thread:
    http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/thread/169374.aspx

You can add RDP to Home and Premium as well as add concurrent RDP.

Re: Vista and Remote Desktop Connections

    Menno,

I was glad to read your post and would like to verify something with you
since you are the first to say what I have been saying.

I was able to work on an XP machine remotely after having received the
invitation email from a Vista machine when on my own network but using 2
    different network cables.

Microsoft insists it should not work that way but I too did what you did so
does it have something to do with having it on our own network.

Once I sent the computer to my dad and we tried where I with the XP machine
and he with the Vista machine, I can never connect even after entering the
password he provides me with to connect.

Can you shed some light on this subject. I am hoping I do not have to
install Vista on my machine at this point.

    I would really appreciate it.

I haven't tried that yet. I can simulate that, though, by taking one of my
computers out of the network and connecting it directly to the internet.
I'll give it a try here a little later on and let you know what happens.

Re: Vista and Remote Desktop Connections

You can't Remote Desktop into Home Premium.
You need to use another program, like Logmein, RealVNC, or TightVNC.

    http://www.realvnc.com/download.html
    http://www.tightvnc.com/download.html
