Vista Business Edition has it, but does not have any of the nice media
    stuff.

If you want to do media stuff AND have remote desktop, you need
    Ultimate.

Re: Vista and Remote Desktop Connections

    Hello Rock,

Thanks for the link but the only reference to remote desktop connection was
"Desktop deployment tools for managed networks" therefore one can only
assume 'remote desktop connection is part of this statement?' In that case
then only the higher end Vista OS has this network application?

    Thanks,

    Hello Elmtailye,

I figure so much and thanks for the response. I was hoping to get off cheap
    with the Home Edition.

    Have a wonderful evening!

Are you wanting to connect remotely to Vista or make remote connections from
Vista? If the latter, then all versions of Vista support that. If the
former, then you need Business, Ultimate or Enterprise.

    Hi Tom.
How do you mean 'all versions of vista support remote desktop connection' if
one wants to connect from vista to xp. I have vista home premium on my laptop
and I don't have remote desktop connection. I can't find anywhere I can
download it. Do you know how I can get it onto my vista home premium?

If you can't find it on the start menu (should be under Accessories on the
start menu) just enter mstsc.exe in the search box on the start menu.

Re: Vista and Remote Desktop Connections

The $400 version for arguably the most fundamental component of home
    networking after file sharing.

Remote desktop in the home/soho network allows users to have multiple PCs
and easily manage their outlook PST files, honor license agreements for
software they legitimately purchase, and manage the home network.

XP Pro has all the media features of XPHome and had a reasonable increase in
price. over XP home... no wonder Vista sales is not optimal if MS expects
users to pay $400 for basic home networking features.

I would like to know from Microsoft what the user requirements gathering
showed for remote desktop? My family and every other multi-computer family I
know is using remote desktop in the home.... this is not just a business
    feature.

Home Premium has the client portion only, not host.
Can't connect to it from other PC's.
