Uninstall Spybot Search & Destroy 1.4

To remove Spybot Search & Destroy 1.4, follow the following procedure:

Add / Remove Programs

First, disable the program, then make a classic uninstall via Add / Remove Programs (found in the Control Panel) or via the equivalent tool that is found in many "cleaner registry" CCleaner by example.


Getting completely rid of Spybot S & D 1.4

If you want to completely get rid of Spybot S & D 1.4 (or earlier) and if Add / Remove Programs is not helpful, you can delete its installation folder (usually C: \ Program Files \ Spybot -- Search & Destroy \), then with this tiny patch you have to execute (important! - It will remove all that remains in the registry) (this also applies to previous versions).

Small patch

Copy the box below (without hyphens) in a text file (. Txt) and change its extension. Reg (appoint spybot.reg for example) so ensure there is no blank lines before the first but there was one after the last.

1. If you just want to upgrade to a newer version, follow the same instructions and then install the new version.
2. After following these instructions, please restart your system so that changes are taken into account.
3. Please note that neither the uninstall automatic or manual uninstallation, described above, will not delete the following folder, which you must remove the hand:

• Windows 95 ou 98: C:\Windows\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\ • Windows ME: C:\Windows\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\ • Windows NT, 2000 ou XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\ • Windows Vista: C:\ProgramData\Spybot - Search & Destroy\

(Note: the Application Data folder is hidden. So if you do not find it, make sure you have to display hidden files).

Explanation: This folder contains backups (files placed in quarantine) that Spybot S & D creates. If the uninstall also deleted this file, it would mean the disappearance of these backups. We have already seen: new users have uninstalled Spybot S & D, panic after encountering a small problem, and have removed the safeguards that could cancel all changes.

I installed spybot & soon after my internet stopped working, just couldnt go to any websites so i thought of uninstalling & your tips helped me a lot . thanks

Dr Jones. I have a similar issue/request. When I run my cCleaner, it shows Spybot Search & Destroy as a Utility on the Applications tab. But I uninstalled it long ago. How do I remove this? Why does it show up?
Please be beginner-like since I do not have deep knowledge of my pc.

I use spybot on all my computers and it has helped a lot.
Important note: Do not install Tea Timer.
Tea Timer can be annoying and can mess with internet freedoms.
Spybot has it's own uninstaller that works pretty good. Ccleaner is great for getting it out of your registry.
You might have it still in your registry.

Hi. I must have run the uninstaller for Spybot but this issue persists. I still see Spybot in my cCleaner - Applications - Utilities list. I keep it unchecked.
Can I remove it somehow?

You are currently in the cleaner section of ccleaner. This section removes
temp files and folders, cookies and other stuff thats not needed. The box you have unchecked is telling ccleaner not to remove any temp files or unused files and folders associated with spybot.
When you go to the add\remove programs list in your control panel can you still see spybot?
Also if click Registry on left side in your ccleaner that section cleans your registry. Do not back up your registry and remove all issues. Then scan
again and again until there are no more issues in your registry.

I don't see it in add/remove programs in my control panel. It doesn't list under a different name does it?
I scan and backup registry often in cCleaner. Are you suggesting something that I should try?

What I usually do when faced with an unsuccessful uninstall is to
re-install the application using all the same destination folders and then
try uninstalling it in the add\remove programs in control panel.
