nglayout.initialpaint.delay in Firefox always set to 100

Hello guys this is a small problem that I would like to share it with you all. The problem is with my Firefox browser and the main cause of the problem is the nglayout.initialpaint.delay which I want to set it to 0. Every time I open the browser the default value set for the nglayout.initialpaint.delay is 100. Even after several attempts to change the value from 0 to 100 did not help me much. So what can be done in such situation. Any of you guys are having any idea for this solution then please let me know about it as I want to set it to 0. Since ever after it was set to 100 my Firefox has become very slow. So I want some solutions from you all. Please help.

Re: nglayout.initialpaint.delay in Firefox always set to 100

See according to me lowering the value of nglayout.initialpaint.delay isn’t going to make any difference. Since the default value of nglayout.initialpaint.delay is 250 and not 100. So that might not be the cause of your browser slowing down, it has nothing to do with the speed of the browser. So don’t consider the fact that lowering the nglayout.initialpaint.delay will speed up the performance. So clear out the confusions and do not worry much on this topic. So I hope you have got the point that I am trying to speak here.

I completely disagree with you. nglayout.initialpaint.delay does have a role to play in the displaying of anything in the browser. The lower the value of the nglayout.initialpaint.delay the faster will be the display. I would advise you to have a check before you say anything here. See all the modified preferences are stored in the prefs.js file. So you will have to directly edit from there only. In case you are not clear with that method then go to the about:config you will be given a long list of preferences. So select whatever preference you want and change it accordingly.

If you are using the speed tweak and the other tool for measuring the speed of the browser then I must say that you must completely ignore that speed results. That are totally bogus. Also check in the folders if you are having the user.js file in the Firefox folder. May be that will allow you to explain properly why is it changing the settings back again. So that may be the main reason here. So please do check about that and inform me accordingly.

Ok, thanks for your quick and prompt reply. Thanks for the support that you all have given me here and I must say that it has really helped me a lot. Yes I did check the settings and looked out for the user.js file and that really helped me a lot. So thanks a lot guys for helping me in this solution. Yes I did try with the about:config method and in spite of changing the preferences it gave me the same problem. The preferences used to switch back to 100 only. Now after having checked with the user.js file it did really help me a lot.
