Unable to access website of Microsoft

I just moved my Compaq Presario 8000T Desktop Comcast Cable / Ethernet modem directly to my friend’s house - now I am connected through AOL Linksys router directly with the appropriate cable to my DSL machine. I'm running Windows XP Professional, and I'm pretty sure Internet Explorer 6. We have connected the computer with my friend’s router. I can access the web site EVERY known, except those belonging to Microsoft. I tried with Hotmail aimed at Outlook – but I cannot access it. Cannot go to msn.com (my home page I use), cannot go to microsoft.com, hotmail.com. No problems with Yahoo, Google, HP Shopping, Sears, Cingular, etc. No problems, except with the Microsoft sites.

Maybe this problem is related with spyware problem. Even I had facing this same problem. First I tried to solve this problem by using McAfee and it’s said that your machine is free from the spyware and try to access the website again but still I faced that same problem. Then I used to download spybot, and after using that I got 30+ infections in my system. Then I cleaned up all that infections. Then I update my windows XP using service pack 2 as per the instructions. And now m free from that problem.

It maybe happens because of the router settings. If the router setting is changed then this kind of problem occur. You have to reset your router settings. You have to reset the router back to default settings. After setting this you can access internet easily and you can access websites. If this setting doesn’t work then you have to check your maximum transmission unit (MTU) settings. You have to reset your maximum transmission unit (MTU) setting to 1400.may this will help you to solve your problem.

Even I am facing this same problem I was not able to access Microsoft website. The n I make some changes in my maximum transmission unit (MTU) setting. You can change your maximum transmission unit (MTU) setting in the command prompt in the vista. You have to change your local area connection to the name of my connection and you have to set your maximum transmission unit (MTU) to 512.the other setting you have to do is that your command line is run under the admin mode so for that you have to go to all programs/accessories and right click on the command prompt and then click run in admin mode.

Maybe sometime your firewall does not allow you to access many websites. Sometime when your are downloading any content form the website it contain unwanted applications so firewall block that website to prevent your personal computer or your system from that unwanted application also known as virus. Maybe some virus tries to affect your system files. This virus is affecting your system driver’s file and then you cannot work properly with your web browser and you cannot access many websites.

This problem also related with your host file. There is some false or wrong definition for the Microsoft sites in your hosts file. For resolving this problem you have to search for hosts from System32\drivers\etc or something like that, and you need to open this in the text editor. And do not delete the file. Check it to see if there are IP numbers and listings. You can also do the ping test and check that is number resolve properly.
