    No http traffic (no internet)

Friends, we were facing some problem with the ESET Nod32 Antivirus. This is about two months back and because of that, 1 percent of our organization computers begin to lose their internet connection. This is just for http(s) traffic. To fix this issue, I disabled the HTTP-scanner and this resolve this. But from this morning, it started showing it again. Can you tell me that what can be the problem with this and how can it be solved?

This problem can be solved by correcting the settings for internal proxy, or else protocol filter. This will make sure that it is just being used to web browser plus email applications:
    1. First of all click on the ESET icon to run the main program window which is there at next to the system clock or you can also click on Start → All Programs → ESET → ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus.
    2. Now press the F5 key for displaying the Advanced Setup window.
    3. click on Antivirus and antispyware → Protocol filtering which is there on the Advanced Setup tree,
    4. Choose the Applications which is marked as Internet browsers and email clients option.
    5. Click Antivirus and antispyware → Web access protection → HTTP, HTTPS → Web browsers and then confirm that just the applications you desire to scan are chosen. Normally just web browsers require to be chosen.
    6. Click on Antivirus and antispyware → Email client protection → POP3, POP3S → Email clients and confirm that just the applications you wish for scanned are chosen. Normally just email clients require to be selected.
    7. Finally click on OK and this will save your modification.

I think that you need to contact the customer care for this issue and give them ESI log. They may have some application that can help you to interfere with the http scanner in any manner. You should do this before moving to any other solution. This will be the best and the safest method for you to resolve this problem.

It is possible that the NOD 32 which is installed in your system is scanning the system at the time when you are browsing the internet and that is why your internet dies. I think that you should disable the scan of nod when you are browsing the internet. Just try this and it will solve the problem for you if it is due to background scanning of the antivirus.

According to me, you should disable Self Defence and this can stop the HTTP traffic as of being blocked with the scanner. Though the HTTP traffic has previously started to block then an effort to modify the Self Defence setting is comes up with a message: "An error occurred while saving the configuration. Please make sure that you have permissions to change settings." You have to reboot and disable the Self Defence setting rapidly and reboot the system again.

I am also facing the same problem and tried many things to solve the issue but was not able to do that. Finally, I reported this problem to the ESET Support. They replied me that they are going to release a new build of the software soon and that will resolve this issue. I think that the only option that is left is to wait for the release.
