Internet Hangs Windows 7

My new HP TouchSmart 300-1000 Desktop computer gets hanged when I connect it to internet. I had purchased it only a week ago. When I used it without internet connection for the first few days it was working well. Even I was able to play games on my new HP Touchsmart desktop, but when I connected LAN connection to my desktop, it would hang within minutes. I cannot even open multiple application. I am having Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium installed. But, when I connected the same LAN cable to my old HP Pavilion desktop that has Windows XP, it works fine.

If you are able to run Windows XP without any problem then you should be able to run Windows 7 also. I would suggest you to check the if you have all the drivers for your router in Windows 7. Go to your Device Manager which keeps a track of all devices. Browse to the router which you are using and update the drivers for it. Also this happened in my case where in I was given a Router Driver CD to update once I connected to internet. Check if you have any such CD and insert it and then connect it to update the necessary drivers.

I am using Windows 7 RC and I am facing no issues in connecting to the internet. If my RC version could perform normally than so should your Genuine Version of Windows 7 should work. I would suggest you to re-install Windows 7 if possible to verify a proper installation. Also Check the physical connectivity of the LAN cable with your computer Chassis. Boot you computer in Safe Mode to see if the problem still persists or not.

Might be the Start-Up programs are hampering your systems performance which you get connected to the internet. You can reduce down the start-up programs by following steps:

Go to Start and in the search box enter msconfig.
Go to the Services tab.
Locate Hide All Microsoft Services and put a check mark in the box in front of it.
Go to the Start Up tab.
Click on Disable All and then on OK button.

This will disable all your third party applications.
