Between Netbeans and Eclipse the competition is well underway and the development of plug-ins no longer the preserve of Eclipse. Thus we tackle today, the development of a plug-in Netbeans 5.0. The least we can say is that Eclipse and Netbeans communities are not inactive and the two IDEs are constantly changing. Not so long ago, talk of plug-ins amounted to about Eclipse, but things change. The internal API of NetBeans is evolving and its documentation, too. It is now possible to develop for and with Netbeans, both plug-ins that rich client applications.

The plug-in for NetBeans GUITM Dynamic Tracing (DTrace) is installed along with software NetBeans 6.0 and Sun Studio. Before using the plug-in, it is advisable to configure manually. You need to use the plug-in for DTrace GUI, copy the DTrace scripts from / opt / dtrace-gui in your home directory:

NetBeans offers a whole series of modules via the Update Center Tools -> Update Center. Then select the server you want to update, and click Next. Among the list, select the module and click Add. Click Next, accept the license. The module is downloaded and you must accept that his signature moves. Depending on the type of module installed, a restart of the NetBeans IDE will be proposed or not.

Been unfaithful to JBoss Eclipse. The editor java, now owned by Red Hat, should join the community that borders NetBeans IDE (Integrated Development Environment) and open source Java from Sun. Netbeans is a direct competitor of the base Eclipse, which JBoss is an active member as an "Add-In Provider. Thus at NetBeans, which takes place the day before JavaOne, the publisher has unveiled its plans to develop a NetBeans plug-in its server applications. The goal, enabling the deployment of Sun technology on JBoss Application Server.

In short now and in the future netbeans should win more, because it can make java / se / ee / me but also to use other languages like php and it is also much used for that . Note the support python (jython / python), ruby (jruby / ruby / rails / grails), but also the UML designer that made me very good service plugin C / C + + is also very good and well serviced me for my project with Qt under Linux.
