After raising overstated expectations with the very first episode and providing complete satisfaction with the second, Lionhead Studios and Peter Molyneux are back again Fable III. The world of Albion is still the same as always, keeping some of the locations of the second game, but moving a few years time. Much darker than before, the world is now overwhelmed by crime and corruption, spoiled by a runaway business and in addition, it is directed by a tyrant. Really a tough time for the populace and resistance is growing. Only missing a hero who is able of lead the revolution to which everyone aspires. But this can be changed, isn’t it ?
If Fable II placed us in a sort of modern age, pre-industrial, this realm of fantasy inspired by England, the third installment makes the leap to the industrial age, and controlling the son of former star of the game, we will have to a revolution to end the King Logan, the tyrant who dominates the kingdom. From the outset, Fable III took cons foot of its forerunner. If your position seems fortunate, the fact is that you will soon bear the brunt of the paranoia of your royal brother. Without going into details, saying simply that the new baby by Peter Molyneux and Lionhead announced soon in the color you facing a difficult choice, before you jump happily in a desperate flight which may subsequently take the form of a quest for revenge. You actually try to overthrow the sovereign claim during the first half of the game. No matter who you are , but you cannot take control of a kingdom alone. You will indeed get the confidence of the people, make promises and sign documents committing your honor.
In the early hours of play, you will realize that we need the Hero again, Albion. Not as a kingdom threatened by the forces of evil, but as a society in danger because of a tyrant. But is this component of society that comes into play just as a novelty in this new release. Fable In previous games, we were the hero and had to stop the evil that threatened the world. The populace and the various chiefs could interact more or less, but gave the same in the end. On this occasion, the whole system of advance of the game, as we do adventures and other actions, is determined by the fans that we will be getting.
More than ever, this game calls us to be supportive with the mob and act together with it using a gaggle of expressions like thunderous belches, dancing, shaking etc to the most miserable inhabitants of Albion. As we have told in the past, the character evolution system of Fable III is mixed or overlapped with the progress through the game. In order to overthrow the tyrant, King Logan, we must complete a path of progress, the game displayed on a separate screen (a sort of "another dimension") as a metaphor. It is a winding road that leads to the castle of the king, pierced by doors that can not open until a certain number of followers.
Then, the regulars will most likely be amazed by the almost complete lack of HUD, the game will merely display buttons occasionally when required. Hence, when we get injured due to the combat with enemies, we will see a button to access the potions in the corner of the screen, but only to those specific times. But overall, the combat seems much more musical and active and more violent than earlier, as marked by the staging effects and replays including different camera angles .
Obviously the game has a series of missions that we need to complete in a linear fashion, or at least in stages, and all these missions, we offer a number of followers as a reward. But we must also do all sorts of side missions, the extra little adventures, or social interactions, also will win supporters for our cause. The ethical system, in which some decisions are good and bad, is still there, but fans account for most of the evolutionary role of the character. Some of the side missions have little to do with what we expect from Fable, and is somehow a way to get necessarily into the game some optional parts of Fable 2 that many users do not even experienced a lack of interest. This aspect is certainly present in the entire game. Required to prove a certain mechanical, such as work, and if we want to squeeze the rest of the adventure, but not mandatory.
