Well I was also having the same problem which you have stated over here is that 1920x1200 external monitor was connected through the DVI port on the mini dock and the external monitor working appropriately . you should see that the local laptop screen will be stopped. There is an instance that the external monitor will work and now disconnecting the DVI cable and reconnecting the DVI cable to the work again.

In order to figure out the answer you have to tell me whether you should make use of the extended screen feature for the external monitor and see whether the issue is persisting on the External screen? If you are having any doubt the feel free to ask about the same.

I don’t know why the above mentioned issue is being happening because of the driver’s issue. you should reinstall the drivers on the computer of yours and see whether it is working or not. also I recommend that you should visit the official website and look for the latest version of the drivers. you should download and install the same on the system. After installing the drivers you should restart the laptop.
Another thing which you can try is that you should simply open the Power Manager and simply check the Power Scheme Configuration. This particular issue might be happening because of settings when changing the power source from the AC to the battery.

I am suggesting following basic troubleshooting steps which you can try to fix the matter of yours.
First of all you should do ThinkVantage System Update.
If it is not working than try with Windows update.
Finally you have to go for the GPU settings where Color Depth - 32bit and Refresh Rate - 60Hz.

Let me know whether any of the above mentioned solutions were useful to you? If not and if you are having the service warranty then I recommend that you should contact the official service center and claim for the service warranty. Make sure that the device of yours should not have any physical damage otherwise there will not be any benefit of the service warranty.
