Why do BlackBerry Bold 9930 has 188 MB of application memory ?

Hi, I own a very good phone as I mentioned in the title itself but the thing which is quite disappointing is like we can have only 188 MB of application memory in the phone, so what about other remaining memory ? don’t we use the RAM wholly which is provided? And as I came across too many sites I have heard that by means of OS7 we can have 768 MB of device memory, Does OS7 really use that much RAM? Need suggestion, any would be appreciated.

Yeah this is quite awful as we can not make use of the memory which is actually provided thus I have just stopped concerning this thing, and after all before some time ago I was not even aware about the total memory even but still was happy with 188 MB, but as I came to know about the total available memory it was quite disappointing. and don’t know about the OS7 as this is the newer so we can have just the specification and the features but let hope for the best.

I am agree with the above user but still I know that people may not utilize a great deal of the memory for applications but according to me RIM should have place extra application memory on their device so that inhabitants would have the liberty to make a decision how much memory they required to utilize without being limited to 188mb. While this is a low amount given memory this is an enhancement on preceding blackberry's.

Well as far as I know 256 is for the GPU so that it can help the device to be used more graphically with such an highly loaded applications. But still there must be some way through which we can increase the usage memory, but I think the allocation that they have made with the available RAM is quite good because 188 is quite enough, no one uses that much memory rather if we install any such higher versions OS in the phone it may slowdown the phone performance if that much amount of RAM is not provided.

Exactly I was also thinking about the same as there might be some way through which we can increase the memory rather we can boost the memory so that we can make use of the application effectively and efficiently as well. And I think OS7 would surely fix this memory issue, isn’t it ? and please let me know if there is any way through which we can increase the application memory for the device I am using, anyways thanks for commenting.

let me tell you the fact and I think this may disappoint you more as this is the most vital memory, it is the confined and will not be accessible by the BB users, and most importantly dedicated and which is fixed in size that is obtainable rather accessible as the purpose for the installation of applications thus you cannot touch application Memory and this is not the end because you cannot advance the maximum application Memory that your BB has. On other words It is what it is.

I am agreed with the above user as unfortunately we cannot increase the memory that is assigned by the RIM itself, but off course there are too many ways through which you can utilizes the given memory most effectively. I mean to say there are too many small thing that you can consider here to utilize the available rather given memory like you can simply close down all the application in order to run the new one, you should not leave the application that way only as it will consume the battery for sure and decrease the performance of other application.
