Xperia X8 can not upgrade to 2.1

Hello friends , I am having Sony ericsson Xperia X8 mobile phone. the phone is too good and its functions are just awesome. I am currently using the firmware version 1.6. I want to upgrade it to 2.1, but I am failing to do so. Whenever I try to upgrade, PC Companion and SE Update Service are prompting me to get the latest software and no updates found. I have tried many times to upgrade it to version 2.1 but again I get the same3 notification. The phone is still having the Firmware version 1.6. Please help and suggest me some idea.

You want to get your Xperia X8 upgraded with Firmware version 2.1. As per my opinion you will not be allowed to do so unless you have the latest update of software installed on your phone. Go to the Update Service and then switch off the phone when you are prompted to do so. Wait for 30 seconds, and then Plug in the USB cable with the “back key” pressed and see what happens. If it doesn’t work, then try it to restore to factory settings and then proceed further with upgradation. Unless you get the latest update for software you cannot upgrade the Firmware version to 2.1

Up gradation of firmware 2.1 usually depends on the region and network operator. Make sure that update is available for your Xperia X8 and the network operator provides you this facility. To confirm, that update is available by the network operator in your region, you need to contact your operator. Even if by using PC Companion and Update Service you are unable to upgrade to 2.1 then it is possible that your network operator has not yet introduced it. You have to wait until your network operator avail this facility.

While you perform the update process using PC Companion and SE Update Service, just keep in mind to keep the phone power off during the entire process of updation. It is also important that you should hold on the back button of your phone before plugging the USB to the PC. Prior to update, check the firewall setting and other security level of your PC.

Yes, that’s true. If the internet security level is set too high then it is possible that it will not allow the new software to install or update to take place. Check for the Firewall settings and any other security software that is installed in your PC. If possible, then disable them, till the update process is completed. PC . If you are using PC companion to update then instead of this you can try updating by Update Service program in your PC.

Thank you friend for sparing your valuable time and relying to the post. I wanted to upgrade my Xperia X8 from firmware version 1.6 to firmware version 2.1, but every time when I tried to do so, updating always failed. I also tried to update it by using PC Companion and SE Update Service but found no result. When I checked the security settings and Firewall settings of my computer I found that that the security level was set too high. Due to this reason update was failing. After reconfiguring the settings it solved the problem. Now my Xperia X8 is running on firmware version 2.1. thanks again
