How much partitions do I need to do in my 1TB hard disk of my macbook?

Hello friends it gives me a great pleasure to visit this forum , I have just installed a Samsung 1tb internal hard drive and now I need to format it and partitioning it , but not certain what quantity of gb and how many partitions to I require to do. I have all my itunes music and films stored on an portable external 1tb hard drive for information, and along with me I also have a portable 320 gb drive for back ups. So any suggestions what to do with the partitions and gb on the internal hard drive .

There will be a plenty of ideas on how the drive should be partitioned, so I will present my opinion, and utter it is only one opinion.Just observe at the quantity of space you have been using for your Mac , are you planning on upgrading the Operating system , and then assign a partition for only the Operating system . Make it big enough to permit for upcoming upgrades, maybe 30-40 GB larger than required so there is sufficient storage for doing installs.

Maintain a partition Big enough for all of your software, perhaps have that be nearly all of the remainder of the drive after the Operating System partition. Since you keep music, etc., on an external drive it must be simple to maintain the internal drive in good shape and unfragmented. You could assign a partition for provisional files, the /tmp file system, but it is simple to fill that up with a lot of web surfing and get yourself in trouble on space.Anyway, my observation is a good size partition to permit for Operating system and upcoming Operating system installs, and the rest for software.

That is a difficult question, if the objective is to have only what you require. Detailed information has not been launched by Apple on a new edition of Mac OS X so we are left guessing. At any cost, you will need around 10-40 GB free storage depending on who you desire to listen to on here, so you can presume by looking at what you are using now for 10.6.6, add that sum, and somewhat else for a cushion. Plus, bear in mind that the Mac OS X disk utility will let you to add to a partion size if required later...as long as there is free storage on the rest of the drive to do so.
