iPad disconnects from digital certificate based SSL connection

    Hi,
    'would much appreciate any help

I have installed a digital certificate on an iPad, trying to establish a SSL secured connection with a web application. I get connected however after few seconds it disconnects, requiring me to enter the certificate password once again. This is going on and on. Worth to mention that I've tested on few iPads with same result. I'm using the latest version 4.2.1.
However, using same certificate with an iPhone I had no issue- the connection was stable.

    much thanks!
    Petru

Have you tried to email the same SSL Certificate to yourself on the iPad. You just have to retrieve it on your iPad and open the certificate file and then iPad will ask if you want to install it. Check it to install SSL Certificate. Or you can also download the iPhone Configuration Utility 3.2 for Windows that will let you easily create, maintain, encrypt, and install configuration profiles, track and install provisioning profiles and authorized applications, and capture device information including console logs.

Re: iPad disconnects from digital certificate based SSL connection

I have installed a RSA 1024 bits certificate and could authenticate. The issue is that after browsing one or two pages the iPad is loosing the SSL connection and requires again the certificate password. After entering the password it authenticate again but immediately disconnects and start same process again. Same certificate installed on an iPhone is working perfectly. So it does from a PC using different browsers.
I have provided other people with same certificate to run tests on their iPads but with same result. I wonder if other users managed to have a stable client SSL certificate authentication innitiated with an iPad or it is an iOS iPad flaw of which Apple should be made aware of.

This is not the issue with the iPad. This seems to be the issue with the router which might be incapable of running with the some of the access point. it is better to install the latest firmware for your router so that it can run with the all the capability. Download and install the latest firmware from the Manufacturer site and see whether this is working with the issue of yours or not.

The client SSL certificate authentication works just fine and is stable with iPhone but not with the iPad. My iPad has from the box two pre installed certificates (don't know their purpose) which I couldn't find in the -remove certificate- option. Could this be the cause why iPad asks over and over again to chose the certificate -because it doesn't know which one to use.

Re: iPad disconnects from digital certificate based SSL connection

What I have heard is that SSL is Secure Sockets Layer and is just a secure email connection. Most of the time connections do not use it. If you have tried both SSL on and SSL off, I would remove all the settings you put in the email settings and retype them again. There may be a comma instead of a period (yet showing as a period when you look at it) or other similar problem.
