Vendors selling apple software copy on USB

I can visualize Apple is going to vend their software copy on the USB. Visualize when they design the USB, that would be actually breathtaking, different logo on the USB, similar to Aperture (All black), iWork, iLife etc , all such things being colorful. I am pretty certain that they are going to put on the market 10.7 Lion with an USB stick upcoming year, as well as a DVD? A far as the DVD is concerned I am not sure about that and I am not bothered about that as well I don't care). It's in fact a advantage for any of us, since the installation will be much faster than DVD , what are you people’s reviews on this subject , please share your ideas on this topic.

I agree with two version this next release for lion. after that i see only new versions coming with new macs on usb. and for people to upgrade with older macs will get from mac app store.I can see Lion being available on both USB and DVD.It would be really handy for me if it comes on USB as it's a massive pain having to put the optical drive back into my laptop just to do it.I guess the older Macs got an USB port too??yes older macs have usb ports. so it wouldnt be a problem but then we would have an issue with piling p usb sticks for every new release. I say mac app store is where we will see them if its not being shipped with a new mac.

The MBA is just the first machine to drop the typical optical drive.I consent Mac App Store is the mode to go ultimately, but I consider the Mac OS X will be trade as an USB in its place of the DVD. I would be truly content regarding that.I just need one as my own USB drive. Maybe I'll move the backup onto another USB drive and make use of this one as my own USB flash drive. If that s even achievable.

I agree with you as well!! I never used mine the majority of the occasions that I have had the MacBook. I did at first to burn CDs but now I can just connect it with the Iphone in the car and listen to music. But for software and like that stuffs I would prefer load it from something else than an CD ROM . They are loud and they heat up the laptop quicker and the battery wears out faster . Well mine did if it were a game. Or they could also makes stuff that can be downloadable from the website and not a USB other than either means I would wish for anything but for a ROM again I found it to be ineffective.

Optical media is essentially quite good for long term archival reasons. improved than hard drives and better than USB sticks. They too do not "mislay data". Either the disc can be accessed or it can't. DVDs will disgrace after a phase of about 50 years. I still posses CDs from the 80s, they still are capable of playing play as completely as the day they were purchased .In the above threads there are a lot of misconceptions , I will ask the people who make their post , that you are not supposed to spread misinformation about optical media. Bring down the eagerness a bit. The MBA does not contain an optical drive, you don't need one, match made in heaven. But to wish Apple completely discontinues the things is wrong. Other people might want Macs and might have a need for optical.

I would go as far as to say that 10.7 will be accessible completely on a USB stick. It's already likely to install 10.6 (and possibly older editions) from a USB stick if you take an image of the disk and use disk utility to place it onto the outside storage.Because so many people will have a Macbook Air and an iMac, it makes logic to at least make it certain the USB version will install on all supported systems.
