Unable to update Sony Ericsson X10 mini pro

I am having a Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro which is running an Android 1.6. This mobile is just great as I have never faced any problem for using the features of this mobile phone. But when I tried to update the versions of this phone's software to 2.1 via Support Zone and stuck on step 2 with error as follows.

"Software update didn't finished successfully because of error.

Does anybody has any idea that where could be the problem due to which it is not getting updated.

I would like to first ask you that are you trying to update your phone by using an internet connection on your phone or from the computer system. Actually it is recommended that you should always update the things on your phone by connecting with the computer system as it does not needs an internet connection while updating your phone. But when you do such things from your phone then it would be needing an internet connection and if suppose net connection gets lost then your device might get harmed and does not works properly and nor it has been updated properly.

If its not been more then a year that you have bought this phone then I would be simply suggesting you to go to the Sony Ericsson service center where they have got habitat to update the phones. And this thing does not even needs a warranty as you can make them updating your phone for free. It would be taking some minutes to complete the update process completely. So it is always better to update the phone not on your own.

Once you have connected your phone then you need to make your phone detected in the Sony Ericsson PC Suit and then look for the updates. Once you have to downloaded all the updates then first of all take the backup of your phone memory as it would be getting deleted as soon as your phone gets updated. Once you have taken the backup then not to worry at all as even if update does not go well, You can format your phone and install the latest version from the start.
