Use a mini SD card with SD adapter as SD card?

I have got a new Digital Camera and there was a SD adapter provided in the box. Bu the problem is that there is no memory card to put inside it. I have a small one which may fit into this adapter but i have to search a lot for finding that card. Can somebody tell me that Mini SD Card works from the SD adapter or not.

Integral MiniSD Memory Card 2GB memory card is a small light that makes it easy to write in the latest types of mobile phones and digital cameras. Made of high standards, MiniSD memory cards are extremely reliable and have a wide range of compatibility for a variety of digital devices. Integral Mini SD are adaptable to the size of an SD card by using adapter included with your order. This means that the card can be used in card readers.

If you use an adapter of mini sd card to work with the camera then you get the following features such as Data stored off-voltage, data comes with a free protective case, Quality Compatibility, Small size: 21.5 mm x 20.0 mm x 1.4 mm, Can be used in SD compatible devices with use of the adapter, Transfer Rate: 52x - 7.85 MB / sec. in reading rate (even when used with adapter), 37x - 5.5 MB / sec. rate in writing (even when used with adapter). Please Note that Mini-SD and RS-MMC are similar sizes but are not compatible.

The miniSD cards are available in two versions: the standard miniSD (according to versions 1.0 and 1.1 interface SD) and miniSDHC (compliant with SD 2.0). The miniSD cards are available in standard capacities ranging from 16MB to 4GB cards 4GB pose compatibility problems, mainly because the standard SD limit capacity to 2 GB, even if the format is technically capable of support a capacity of 4 GB. MiniSDHC cards offer a capacity of up to 32GB, the maximum is 4 GB in the year of 2006. I do not have any idea about today.

It has became need to use an adapter if you are using any old products as memory cards are most favorable in the micro SD size and most of the people prefer for the same as they work with the mobile phone as well. But the this is not the case with the few digital camera. But the manufacturers of the those camera know that card compatibility expands if any size of card can be used along with an adapter which makes the size of the memory card as per expected by the camera.
