How to provide a PCI-E power to PCI adapter card for XPS 8300?

Hello friend, last one month I used Dell XPS 8300.now I decided to add a PEX1PCI1 PCI sound card on this Desktop. I listen that this adaptor card is helps for connects to an external audio interface. I tried to insert this card on PCI-Express slot and I have faced some issues at the time of inserting this card on the system. I don’t understand how to provide a PCI-E power supply to this PCI adaptor card. The card wants a power supply via its connector. Thanks.

The adapter card built-on LP4 power connector. This LP4 connector connects the adaptor card to the computer power supply. Then you need to find out the available power supply connector of the SMPS of the XPS 8300 desktop. This connector needs to be compatible with the LP4 connector. If any single connector is present in the system which is compatible with the LP4 then connect it. This compatible connector allows you to provide universal 3.3V/5V voltage PCI card.

Hey dude, you need to provide the external power to the PCI adapter card. This can be happens to Make a PCI Express 6 pin Power Connector. Many new power supplies come with the 6-pin connector as standard and they may not include 4-pin Molex to 6 pin cable. Then I suggest you to purchase this 4-pin molex to 6 pin cable connector. This will helps you to provide the PCI-E power to PCI adapter card. Then you are adaptor card can easily work into the system.

I also faced the same kind of trouble and I haven’t able to solve this trouble. Then I read somewhere these solutions. I checked the SMPS of the cabinet and it is ATX SMPS. Then I check its power connector and there is many connectors present in this SMPS. Then I select one connector. But I don’t understand whether it is compatible with the adaptor connector or not. Then I read the manual of the SMPS and adaptor card. The both connector are compatible to each other. Then I connect it and really it works.

Hi, you need to Open the CPU cabinet and then look around this CPU. There is one SMPS present in at the top of the cabinet. You should locate a spare power connector of this SMPS. If you bought the adaptor already then you realized that the power connector is present with this adaptor. Then connect the remaining single compatible power connector to the adaptor connector. This process will help you to solve this power connections problem.

Hey dude, I also faced the same trouble in my XPS 8300 desktop and I try this solutions after reading your post. But when I search the SMPS power supply connector then I found that there is no compatible connector present in this SMPS. There is one connector present in the cabinet but its other connector point connects to the hard disk. Initially I worried about should I connect this to adaptor connector. But later I connect this and the result is positive.

Many new power supplies come with the 6-pin connector and hence there should be necessary to provide the 6 pin power connector to this adaptor card. Most of the PCI-Express slot wants the 6 pin connector, and then there is necessary that the adaptor connector should be 6-pin connector. Then you need to make the 6 pin connector. Then you need to use the 4-pin to 6-pin molex connector. This Molex provide the different connector to connect different power supply connector to reach other. Then use it and solve the trouble.
