    iBook G4 Space Bar Problem

I have recently bought this iBook G4 and it was working fine. But today when I was using my iBook G4, the space bar that is provided with it has stopped working. There is unusual way for its working. If I hold down the alt key and the press space bar then it works but all the time I cannot use this method. How can I fix this iBook G4 Space Bar Problem?

I was also facing this similar problem some time back. My space bar is working when I am using it with the combination of alt key. The thing that went wrong is the 'text to speech' settings. Actually I have set the space bar for performing function of speaking the selected text. For solving this problem you just need to un-check the option of 'speak selected text when the key is pressed'. This option is under system preferences and then in Speech Setting. I hope this will solve your problem.

Thank you for the solution that you have provided it worked for me and my keyboard is back to normal. I will like to give some more trouble to you. A good friend of mine has a problem with his laptop iBook G4 / 768 MB RAM. It is mega slow and it sometimes gets the message: Startup Disk overflow it is 4 GB on 30 GB of free hard disk space. Should he need to buy an external hard drive in order to move photos and other large files and recover space? Or should need to buy the RAM?

For Ram, it cannot hurt; one gigabyte is minimum to be comfortable. But in this case, it is the hard drive that can do more, so your solution is good, buy an external hard drive and do a little housekeeping on the internal drive, the iBook will go much better afterwards! You are a beginner and you have already the solution, the world mac is great.

4GB is largely sufficient, and the message should not appear. The disk almost full message appears when there is normally less than 500MB of available. I already saw the problem because of corrupt system files. It will be a good idea to boot from the CD to install and launch the Disk Utility to repair disk and permissions. 1GB of free hard disk has to be there, the least free for the iBook to an amateur is not penalized. The free space on the hard drive depends on the machine, the amount of RAM.

I thought the minimum margin of safety was 10 percent of the capacity of hard disk. In the series cleaning your friend can use Onyx , it will flush the cache, for example, if it has an iPod it can free up space, with the new iphoto "ipod photo cache" quickly became huge. I hope that you have got the solution for the problem that you are facing. If you have any other problem then let me know.

I work constantly with less than 2GB free, and I have no problem. That is why I state that it depends on the machine and use. Apple does not follow the rule of 10%. But it is true that what Apple's board and the facts, there is often a line. 10% seems much all the same. Especially when you exceed 40Gb hard drive. I have an 80 GB, and I have never found any difference between 8 and 3Gb of free. But the experiences of each recess may be different.
