    Thinkpad Y560 Screen Resolution issue

Since I installed updates to Windows XP I have a problem with the screen resolution. I am using Thinkpad Y560 laptop. I have a application which has some toolbars on the left. The color quality is the lowest and the screen resolution is 640 x 480 and I cannot change that. I searched on internet about the problems but there is only information about the icons. The issue is with the low screen resolution on the laptop.

There is a simple way by which you can increase the color quality of your laptop. That can be done by right-clicking on the desktop and then click on Properties > Settings. Here you can change your color quality. You can choose the highest resolution and if that does not work then you will need to update your video drivers. That is needed quiet here. Do that and check back the settings.

I have exactly the same problem as above. Use a custom resolution in my case does not change anything either. The one solution which I found on a site is replacing the video cable of the monitor. But this does not work in case of a laptop. So updating driver is the only thing left. If your laptop supports graphic card then change it and update the drivers for the same.

Re: Thinkpad Y560 Screen Resolution issue

Yesterday I bought a new flat screen LCD Philips 220CW 22 inch. The recommended resolution is 1680x1050 @ 60Hz. By restarting my computer each time, arriving at welcome screen my screen resolution changes automatically. I cannot see my taskbar because it is below the screen. Some thing change my resolution to lower resolution replacing the old settings.

I too had the same problem with a 8600GT and 22 inches Phliips LCD screen. I spent many hours but I think I just found some solution for the same. Indeed you must go in the advanced options of your graphics card and create a resolution by custom setting. Set the custom profile to 1680x1050. Then apply it and reboot back your system. This settings will not disappear.

I had the same problem and I found a solution using the VGA cable. I had to boot up Windows XP with the initial screen and I had the same problem. I changed the resolution from the properties of users to boot into Classic mode and it works. I am trying to run a another monitor on the Thinkpad laptop. It gives out some glimpses on starting but later on the same issue.

Re: Thinkpad Y560 Screen Resolution issue

Are you using any screen setting application. If yes then remove it and try out the default settings of windows. It is problem with the operating system which is causing the change of resolution. The resolution of an LCD depends on its size because it operates at a defined resolution. Click the Advance button from the system properties and then locate the DPI settings. Here choose 96 dpi output.
