Dell Latitude D520 Audio and PCI Issue

I am having a Dell Latitude D520 Audio and PCI Issue which i am unable to fix after lots of effort. The problem started after the installation of the Windows XP SP2. After the installation of the same i have updated all the driver to the same and while checking in the device manager the audio is not having any issue. But the driver of the PCI is missing. I have installed the driver for the same but no help. So help me.

As per my knowledge the audio chip is connected to the PCI bus on the motherboard. And according to your problem you need to update the driver of the same. So just get into the device manager and then to the PCI where the yellow flag is showing and then right click on same and then click to the properties and update the same. Now choose it to manually install the driver and then define c:\Dell\drivers\R171789\WDM for the same.

I have tried the same that you have told me to perform but let me tell you that i am unable to do so as there is no c:\Dell\drivers\R171789\WDM available. So i have again installed the driver of my audio driver which i got with the motherboard but after the completion of the same i have come to know that this is not working for me.

In that case that you are unable to get the wdm file on your primary hard drive, you have to reinstall the complete driver once again. As per my knowledge the system is not installed the motherboard driver properly that is why unable to connect the Audio to PCI bus. So reinstall the driver again and see whether it is working or not.

Hey i afraid that above reply did not work for me but i have got it working by my own. Just get into the Registry Editor window and then navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Windows" and then edit the value for "CSDVERSION" from 300 to 100. After that installed i have installed all the driver and then change back the modification i have done. And now it is working.
