It is completely dependent on the device you are having. This runs on the screen size that is provided by the RAM and the application which are available in the present time. There are three type of the support available for the Android which are Pre-scaling of resources, Auto-scaling of pixel dimensions and coordinates , Compatibility-mode display on larger screen-sizes. Thats it!!

Some people ask the same that is it possible to make the modification to the android for the XGA and the answer i got is that the system will run only on the big screen only if the you have enough memory for the frame buffer. You don't have to go more inside of it for any part of the android as it is completely dependent on the memory that is RAM

The foundation of Android's support for multiple screens is a set of built-in compatibility features that together manage the rendering of application resources in an appropriate way for the current device screen. The platform handles most of the work of rendering your application, but also gives you two key ways to control how your application is displayed, if you need or want to use them.
