All overclocking Should be done in the BIOS. With that being said, it sounds like you need to disable EIST and C1E again in the advanced BIOS page

To figure this out, go into the bios and look to seek if you can change any of the cpu values by adjusting the front side bus specifications. If these are not listed or you can't change them, then you are unable to overclock period.

Most manufactueres disable the overclocking features to prevent consumers from voiding their warranties. If overclocking is something you Need to do, think about getting a new motherboard.

Does your system boot with your 533fsb processor? If it's a newer MB it may not be compatable with a processor slower than 800FSB. Check your MB compatability in the manual or on the website, use google. You may want to get a newer CPU to be more compatable for that board and it's overclocking utilities, or an older OC-ing MB that supports that processor. I am unsure of the P5K can support overclocking or supporting that chip, but I hope you can get it to.

You can make overclocking changes to your CPU without the CTRL+F1. CTRL+F1 just opens more options for overclocking RAM.

The root of my problem is that since I cleaned the dust out of my comp and it jumped back to default, none of the overclocking changes I've been making in BIOS have taken effect.

If you gave a little information like this, nobody know how to help you to overlock you cpu. I wonder what is your cpu, and what kind of your mobo chipset. Your post is lacking a lot of informations.

I'm sorry I cannot help you out. Intel Chipset G31 cannot overlock. Anyway If you ask me to oc, I will do oc from chipset P35 to X58. I know ho to oc with DFI, ABIT, Asus, but I never do oc with gigabyte.

Anyway, goodluck and hope somebody else can fix your problem!
