Unable to overclock second card in MSI afterburner

I have recently configured crossfire an MSI 5830 and MSI 5850 on top of my Asus M4A89gtd Pro motherboard. Both video cards are twin frozr II. I booted the PC up and the whole thing worked very well, crossfire enabled and it was constant. Therefore I went toward MSI afterburner to begin overclocking. I can do anything I would like to the 5850; alter volts, core clock, memory clock, fan. However while I go toward the settings and toggle to the 5830 card to overclock it, I can't carry out a solitary thing to it exclusive of the PC freezing. Does anybody experience this issue? Please tell me how to fix it.

Many people are getting issue when they overclock the GPU in SLI or crossfire mode. You can easily overclock the single GPU but when 2 GPU crossfired then it may not be easy to do so. In your case you don't necessitate to encompass MSI cards to run afterburner, except it does contain issues through CrossfireX. However fact to be told I had a set of issues with the latest versions of afterburner, to obtain whatever thing to work I had to make use of version 1.42 and that worked a magic. Furthermore you have to enable unofficial overclocking.

My best option to overclock is RivaTuner rather than MSI Afterburner. It is total powerful tweaking surroundings, offering you the whole thing you might require to tune NVIDIA GPU origined display adapters. The stretched driver-level Direct3D / OpenGL and system tuning preferences, supple profiling system letting to create tradition settings on top of per-app root, together driver-level as well as low-level hardware access modes, exclusive diagnostic and real-time hardware monitoring characteristics and limited power user leaning tools similar to integrated registry editor and scrap script engine create RivaTuner's attribute set completely matchless.

The video cards can be overclocked except I would recommend finding the restrictions of mutually cards and after that overclocking to inside 10 MHz of that border. You will be utilizing further present thus ensure your PSU is capable of the job. Water cooling does not harm it simply gets luxurious with 2 complete wrap blocks. You should try by ATITool. Like the name implies ATITool is an overclocking function intended for ATI graphics cards.

You can make use of MSI afterburner otherwise Sapphires new overclocking service if it is obtainable in view of the fact that you can exploit the voltage regulation abilities of any tool. Just for the reason that several achieve 1000/1300 does not represent all, just like through those blonde CPU's that operate 4.5GHz by 1.25 volts. You can try GPUTool, it gives improved voltage tweaks on top of my 4890s, MSI is a lot further sophisticated.

I think that you haven’t crossfired the 2 cards properly so that you cannot take control of the secondary card. However you are telling that you can take the master card. Then it indicates that there is nothing wrong with the Afterburner. It might be the faulty configuration. Now what you have to do is, just swap the card. I mean put the secondary card in mater card position and the master card position. Now I hope that you can overclock the both cards even if they are crossfired.
