How to stop elan smart pad in windows 7

I recently bought a ELAN Smart Pad tab which is a mouse pad for my computer. When the computer is on idle then I am trying to disable it. But when I go to mouse properties and then choose Elan Smart Pad tab and select "disable when external USB mouse plug in" check box then still the mouse pad will be working? Can anyone tell me how can I stop it for once? Thanks

This problem was faced by many users and to solve it you need to install the latest driver of ElanTech touchpad which was reported by many users in Asus website. You need to download and install this driver from this link - http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=en-us. After that check if choosing the "turn off touchpad when USB mouse is installed" check box disables your touchpad or not.

You can try to double click on the Elantech icon in system tray and then choose the Elantech tab. After that click to stop the device and click apply and ok. If still that dosent work then try to do into Device Manager and then try to stop the Elantech Smart Pad from their. If still this doesnt work, then shut down your pc and after that only remove the Smart Pad from your pc. Hope this works.

I was using a wireless microsoft mouse and had this similar kind of problem like the one described above. Whenever I tried to turn off the touchpad with the function F3 key, then the icon used to come up on the screen to say touchpad is off even though it was still active. So, I downloaded the same touchpad software which is given in the reply above and installed it. After restarting my pc, now I was able to stop the touchpad properly.
